The British Association of Balloon Operators

What Is BABO ?

BABO is the trade organisation representing holders of UK hot air balloon Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) as granted by the Civil Aviation Authority. The organisation looks after the interests of passenger balloon ride operators both within the UK, and internationally.

You may use our website to find a BABO Operator  and organise a flight in your area.

Aims and Objectives

Its aims and objectives are to:

  • represent UK Balloon Air Operators' Certificate Holders in all legal and flying matters;
  • promote and protect its members' commercial activities;
  • improve safety and professionalism within the industry.

Membership

British Balloon and Airship Club Membership is restricted to holders of current AOCs. BABO is affiliated to the British Balloon and Airship Club (BBAC) to which its members also belong as individuals. The organisation is recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority CAA and both they and the BBAC now refer matters relating to balloon rides operations to BABO.
